If your going to throw a party, you should make it awesome. After putting in all of that time & effort, and money. you would want your party to be memorable. So to ensure your event is a success, there are only 3 things that you need to get right.

The Lighting is such an important part of any event, and is often overlooked. Creating the right atmosphere is integral to any event. Turn off any fluorescent lights, ensure the dance floor is dimly lit. Have a few effects lights on the dance floor to set the right mood. Having fairy lights, or festoon lights strung up creates a festive mood. Make sure the entry and exit points are well lit. Any features in the space such as large trees, or feature walls should be lit from the ground up.

The Music. Creating a playlist of the right kind of music to satisfy your guests is very important. Have a few different playlists with different genres that you can easily switch from one to the next as the mood of the party changes. Try to avoid your guests having access to the sound system to play their own tracks. This makes the party very dis-jointed and can often ruin the mood that you want to create.

The Catering includes both the food and the booze. Keep things simple but make sure there is enough food, and beverage to last the night.
